Telecare ADHD Paediatrics Triage

Connect with the Right Specialist through Telecare ADHD Triage

Please bring a list of your concerns to your first appointment.

Our assessments gather childhood history and current issues. We'll gather collateral info from the patient's parent, questionnaires, and school reports. The patient is encouraged to bring along their parent to provide supporting collateral history.

Kindly fill out questionnaires before scheduling. If needed, obtain school reports. Childhood information is crucial for an accurate ADHD diagnosis. We'll require blood tests, urine screens, and physical assessments. Before starting ADHD treatment, we may need to stabilize any comorbid conditions.

If a diagnosis of ADHD was made by a previous or current health professional (e.g. pediatrician, psychiatrist, psychologist etc.) you will be expected to obtain the supporting documentation (e.g. reports, letters). Provision of such documents will expedite the assessment process.

GP Referral

We  require a GP referral letter for your Medicare rebate claim, and to explain the specifics of your suspected diagnosis and to support  prescribing S8 medication.  Our specialists can provide prescriptions or authorise your GP with details of their recommendation for medication. Your GP may then  apply for a permit to prescribe these medications based on our recommendation.

If a diagnosis of ADHD was made by a previous or current health professional (e.g. paediatrician, psychiatrist, psychologist etc.) you will be expected to obtain the supporting documentation (e.g. reports, letters). The provision of such documents will expedite the assessment process.

Please be advised, Telecare practitioners will proceed with an independent medical assessment regarding the diagnosis and/or treatment plan, which may be different from past assessments.

Please discuss these arrangements with your GP before your appointment.

S8 Medication Prescription and Limitation

  1. The management of patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may involve the prescription of restricted (S8) psychostimulant medications (e.g. Lisdexamfetamine/Vyvanse or Ritalin/Methylphenidate). It is possible that your paediatrician may recommend the prescription of these restricted drugs. Please be aware there are varying state legislations and application for authority can take some time . In some states, GP prescription of these medications is permitted as long as they provide a letter from a specialist detailing this recommendation. In the case this may be applicable for you, we highly recommend that you discuss this arrangement with your GP prior to your appointment to ensure your GP is prepared to apply for authority; and

  2. Ongoing measurements are required before prescriptions may be provided. These include, but are not limited to, pathology (blood test, urine drug screening test, etc), ECG, and vitals measurements (e.g height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate). At-home measurements are not acceptable.
